University of Karachi is one of the oldest educational institutes in Pakistan. It was established in 1951 and moved to this campus in 1960. Later, in 1962, it came under Provincial Universities Act and flourished with a cluster of academic disciplines with multiple research institutes and teaching faculties.

Today, we are proud to have 9 faculties with 54 departments, 04 special chairs, 21 research institutes and 147 affiliated colleges. Moreover, we have 26 research journals, out of which 18 are HEC recognized and 03 have attained impact factor.

Along with research and teaching, we are well aware that the cognitive growth of a person is the most important element, which needs constant nourishment. In keeping with the motto of KSA (knowledge, skills and attitudes), the office of Students’ Advisor is particularly involved in the welfare and general conduct of students studying in the morning and evening programs. Dedicated staff under the direction of Students’ Advisor works throughout the academic calendar for maintaining discipline on the campus, proactively involving our students in curricular and co-curricular activities. In addition to that, each department has a designated Students’ Advisor for coordination and ultimate execution of student’s activities.

Students are indispensable part of any educational institution and play a pivotal role in maintaining standards of their institution. All students are expected to follow set norms, rules and regulations within the university. If anyone is identified for violating any rules of the University of Karachi, the Discipline Committee takes necessary action to discourage such practices. The Students’ Advisor serves as a Secretary of that committee
