Knowcall: Caller ID & Block

Knowcall shows you who is calling, keeps the numbers you never want to hear from out of your day, and collects the message notifications that arrived while you were away.

Set Knowcall as your default Caller ID and spam app and it can silence or reject calls from the numbers on your own spam and block lists. Your contacts, your lists and your unseen messages stay in storage on the device.

KEY FEATURES

- Caller ID from your contacts: incoming and searched numbers are matched against your address book, so a saved number shows a name instead of digits.

- Number lookup: type any number in the Tracker tab to check whether it is in your contacts, and keep a history of the numbers you looked up.

- Spam list and block list: add numbers yourself; the call screening service silences or rejects them once you set Knowcall as the default Caller ID and spam app.

- Unseen messages: with notification access granted, Knowcall records message notifications from chat apps, so you can read what arrived even after the sender removes it, and filter the log by app.

- Contacts and favorites: browse your address book, mark the people you call often, and dial straight from the app.

- Themes: switch the whole app between colour themes.

- 21 languages, selectable on first launch and from Settings.

- Knowcall is free to download and free to use.

- The app is supported by advertising: banner, native, interstitial and app-open formats.

- In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you are asked for advertising consent on first launch, and you can change that choice later.

PERMISSIONS AND WHY

- Contacts: to match incoming and searched numbers against your address book.

- Phone: to place a call when you tap a number inside the app.

- Notification access: to list message notifications in the Unseen tab.

- Notifications: to deliver the app's own reminders.

- Battery optimisation exemption: optional, so screening and the message log keep working in the background.

Knowcall does not request SMS or call log permissions.

DISCLAIMER

- Knowcall identifies callers using the contacts saved on your device and the spam and block lists you create yourself. It does not query an online directory of phone numbers and cannot name a number you have never saved.

- Your contacts, your spam and block lists, your lookup history and your logged message notifications are stored on the device. Knowcall does not upload them to a server.

- Call screening needs Android 10 or newer, and needs you to set Knowcall as the default Caller ID and spam app in system settings.

- Reading message notifications needs notification access, which you grant in system settings and can withdraw at any time.
