neolexon Therapeut:in Aphasie

The neolexon therapy system for the treatment of aphasia and speech apraxia supports speech therapists in their daily work. With the help of neolexon, individual exercise material can be compiled for patients and speech therapy exercises can be carried out flexibly on the tablet or in the Internet browser on the PC. The app was developed by a team of speech therapists and computer scientists at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and is registered as a medical device.

With the neolexon app, therapists can save time by putting together individual exercise sets for their patients. Be available:

- 8,400 words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, numerals)

- 1,200 sets

- 35 texts

The exercises can be selected according to the personal interests of the patient, according to semantic fields (e.g. clothing, Christmas etc.) and according to linguistic properties (e.g. only two-syllable words with the initial sound /a/).

The app offers the opportunity to train the selected language units in flexibly adjustable exercises together with the patient in the therapy session. The areas of auditory language comprehension, reading comprehension, oral and written language production are trained. The "picture cards" function is also available, with which therapists can carry out free exercises with the exercise set.

The difficulty of the individual exercises can be finely adjusted. For example, the number of distractor images can be specified and it can be determined whether these are semantically similar to the target word. In the "Writing" exercise type, you can choose between gap words, anagrams and free writing with the entire keyboard. Further setting options can be found in the app.

The patients' answers are automatically recorded and are available in graphics - this saves important time in preparation and documentation. They do not provide information for diagnostic or therapeutic decisions.
