Pomba Asa Branca It is also known as: Pomba Saleira, Pomba Carijó, Asa Branca and Pomba Verdadeira. Pigeon quite common and frequently seen in a wide variety of habitats, from urban areas to savannah and sparse woodland areas. It is large, and with purplish-gray plumage, on the back and wings the feathers have white edges giving the impression of scales. They have a silver band on the side of the neck. When it flies it shows a white stripe on the wing contrasting with the darker primaries. The chant is low and monotonous “wuu-pupuh, wuu-pupuh.”
