Qatar Radio

In 1965 the first radio station in Qatar established a (radio station of the Great Mosque), which was broadcast on Fridays and occasions the Holy Quran and religious programs and news were the first nucleus for the establishment of an official radio station in Qatar 25. 6- 1968.

Qatar Radio began broadcasting on medium wave for five hours in Arabic and two shifts: morning for one hour and a half, and the evening for three hours.

And then it increased to broadcast nine hours in 1969 and then to 13 hours in 1970, and rose again to nineteen hours in 1982 to become broadcast around the clock in 2002

Early, part of an ambitious plan to deliver the voice of Qatar to non-Arabic speakers inside and outside Qatar was established foreign English-language program in 1971, where transmission began one hour until it reached nineteen hours in 2004.

In 1980, it began offering service broadcasting in Urdu, which found a great resonance between this language-speaking community in Qatar and the rest of the Arab Gulf states, where began broadcasting one hour a day on medium waves, and in 1989 extended to broadcast 3 hours

In 1985, a new service has been speaking in French, which began broadcasting three hours a day on medium wave launch of a unique service in the entire region
