Salmo 73
About Salmo 73
Great Psalm
Surely God is good to Israel, to the pure in heart.
As for me, my feet almost stumbled; I barely slipped.
For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
They have no suffering, and their bodies are healthy and strong.
They are free from everyone's burdens; they are not afflicted with diseases like other men.
Therefore pride serves as a necklace to them, and they clothe themselves in violence.
Evil springs from within him; from your mind machinations overflow.
They mock and speak with evil intentions; in their arrogance they threaten with oppression.
With their mouths they claim the heavens, and with their tongues they take possession of the earth.
Therefore his people turn to them and drink their words until they are satisfied.
They say, “How will God know? Does the Most High have knowledge?”
So are the wicked; ever carefree, increase their riches.
Surely it was useless for me to keep my heart pure and wash my hands in innocence,
For all day long I am afflicted, and every morning I am punished.
If I had said, "I will speak like them," I would have betrayed your children.
When I tried to understand all this, I found it very difficult for me,
until I entered the sanctuary of God, and then I understood the fate of the wicked.
Surely you put them on slippery ground, and make them fall to ruin.
How suddenly they are destroyed, completely seized with terror!
They are like a dream that goes away when we wake up; when you arise, Lord, you will make them disappear.
When my heart was bitter and I was jealous in my heart,
I acted like a fool and ignorant; my attitude towards you was that of an irrational animal.
Yet I am with you always; you take my right hand and hold me.
You guide me with your advice, and afterward you will receive me with honor.
Whom have I in heaven but you? And on earth, I want nothing more than to be with you.
My body and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my inheritance forever.
Those who forsake you will surely perish; you destroy all infidels.
But it is good for me to be close to God; I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will proclaim all your deeds.
