Surah Fatir

It is a Makki surah, meaning it was revealed in Mecca. The name of the surah means "The Originator" or "The Creator" and it refers to the first verse, which praises Allah as the Originator of the heavens and the earth, and the Maker of angels as messengers with wings. The surah also talks about the signs of Allah's power and mercy in the creation, the resurrection, and the revelation. It also warns the disbelievers of the consequences of their denial and arrogance, and encourages the believers to be grateful and patient.

Some of the benefits of reciting Surah Fatir are:

- For forgiveness of sins: According to a hadith, whoever recites Surah Fatir in his obligatory prayers, Allah will forgive his sins equal to ten times the number of people who recite it.

- For protection from evil: The surah teaches us to seek refuge in Allah from various kinds of evil, such as the evil of those who plot against us, the evil of Satan, and the evil of our own souls². The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Fatir and other surahs for protection from harm.

- For attaining wisdom and knowledge: The surah invites us to reflect on the wonders of Allah's creation, such as the winds, the clouds, the rain, the fire, and the iron. It also tells us that Allah grants wisdom and knowledge to whom He wills and that they are a great blessing for those who use them correctly.

- For being with Imam Husayn on the Day of Judgement: According to a narration from Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (may Allah have mercy on him), whoever recites Surah Fatir often, will be accompanied by Imam Husayn on the Day of Judgement.

- For rewards like Hajj and Umrah: According to a report from Imam Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), whoever recites Surah Fatir on Friday, will get a reward like performing Hajj and Umrah.
