The Syriac alphabet is a writing system primarily used to write the Syriac language from the 1st century AD.It is one of the Semitic abjads directly descending from the Aramaic alphabet through the Palmyrene alphabet,and shares similarities with the Phoenician, Hebrew, Arabic, and the traditional Mongolian alphabets.

Hebrew is a West Semitic language of the Afroasiatic language family. Historically, it is regarded as the language of the Israelites and their ancestors, although the language was not referred to by the name Hebrew in the Tanakh.
