About Plata
Log your BJJ sessions, track your journey, connect with training partners.
Plata is the training log built for grapplers and combat sports athletes. Log every session, track your progression, and connect with your training partners — all in one place.
Log training in seconds.
Tap the class you attended from your gym's weekly schedule and Plata fills in the class name, time, and type automatically. No typing required. Add rolls, round length, intensity, techniques, notes, and photos when you want to capture the detail — or just log it and move on.
Track what actually matters.
Total mat time, roll count, average roll length, striking minutes, current streak, sessions per week, month, year, or all-time. Grappling and striking are tracked separately, so your Muay Thai rounds don't inflate your BJJ stats and your open mats don't get confused with padwork.
Follow your training partners.
See what your gym mates are working on. Fist-bump their sessions, drop comments, tag them in your own logs when you rolled together. Three feed tabs — Following, My School, Everyone — let you tune what you see.
Find your gym.
Plata ships pre-loaded with gyms across NYC, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Hudson County NJ, Westchester, Nassau County, and more. Pick your home academy and the class picker automatically surfaces the weekly schedule for that gym. Don't see yours? Request it and
we'll add it.
Every discipline you train.
Gi, no-gi, open mat, drilling, privates, Muay Thai, striking, sparring, MMA — all first-class session types with their own stats. Whether you're a pure BJJ practitioner or a mixed martial artist logging striking and grappling in the same week, Plata understands what you did.
Techniques taxonomy built by grapplers.
Tag the moves you drilled: submissions, sweeps, guard passes, takedowns, guard work, escapes, positions, transitions. Your session detail view surfaces which techniques you're actually spending time on — see your development areas at a glance.
Belt progression that gets it right.
White through black plus coral and red for high-degree black belts. Stripes tracked at rank granularity. Belt bars appear on every profile and session card so rank is always visible at a glance.
Privacy on your terms.
Public account, followers-only sessions, or fully private profile — you decide. Follow-request flow for private accounts. Block anyone you don't want interacting with you. Nothing about your training gets shared without your consent.
Photos of your training.
Attach up to three photos to any session — post-training pics, whiteboard drawings, competition shots. Your feed becomes a visual record of your grappling journey.
Journal view.
Every session you've logged, chronologically. Scroll back through months of training to see the arc: what you drilled the week before your last promotion, what got you through that plateau, who was on the mat with you.
Designed for the mat.
Every design decision comes from someone who's been rolling six days a week — from the three-tap post-training log, to the class-schedule picker that knows you're logging what already happened, to the striking-vs-grappling stats split that reflects how you actually train.
Plata is currently in open testing on Google Play. Your feedback shapes what we ship next — join the training partners already logging their sessions, and help us build the best training log for grappling and combat sports.
