The Cats & The Frumious

This application is a board game that I used to play when I was a child.

Rules:

1. The mouse (white piece) moves first.

2. Each player will make one move per turn. A move consists of one step to an empty square and you will always move towards dark squares.

3. The cats will only move forward.

4. The mouse can move in all directions.

5. It is not allowed to advance stepping over the opponent's pieces.

6. If the cats manage to trap the mouse, the cats win the game.

7. If the mouse is able to reach the cats initial squares, the mouse wins the game.

To move a piece click (tap) on the piece and then click on the square where you want it to move to. The app will not allow illegal moves. If you mistakenly try to make an illegal move, simply click again on the piece and you will be able to make a legal move. You can also drag and drop the piece from the origin square to the destination square.

By default you will play the mouse role and the game level will be "Normal". Using the top right menu button you can change the opponent, the game level and start a new game. For some devices the menu button is not part of the screen and it is a physical button on the device. Note that the icon for the menu button will look different on different devices and in some cases to use the menu button on the device you must long press on the app switch button.

This game will help children to learn and play board games, familiarizing them with some concepts from Chess, such as time and space. It will also help them build solving problems skills and will develop various types of intelligence such as logical-mathematical, spatial and creative.
