About Timeline Visualizer
Create, customize, and watch animated videos from your Google Maps Timeline.
Bring a year of travel to life.
Timeline Visualizer turns a Google Maps Timeline export into an animated map video on your Android phone. Choose exact dates or a month range, preview the route, and create an MP4 that is ready to watch or share.
Create your story
• Choose a Timeline file exported from Android or iPhone
• Select exact dates or an inclusive month range across multiple years
• Personalize a reusable title such as “2026 Mina's Timeline”
• Preview the animation before creating the full-quality video
• Choose Fixed, Steady, or Dynamic camera movement
• Balance long journeys with optional long-trip timing compression
• Export at 480p, 720p, or 1080p
• Choose a 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60-second journey
• Finish with a smooth zoom-out and complete-route overview
• Keep creating in the background with progress and completion notifications
• Reopen the most recently used Timeline file when Android retains access
• Save videos automatically to Movies/Timeline Visualizer on Android 10 and later
• Save or share the final 1080 × 1080 route overview
Need to restore older trips first?
Open the localized restoration guide from the app. It explains how to import an existing encrypted Timeline backup in Google Maps, then export a new JSON file for Timeline Visualizer. The app never accesses your Google account or encrypted backup.
Keep your videos together
Completed videos appear in My videos with a thumbnail, title, date, duration, and Selected period. Add older MP4 files, play them inside the app, share them, or delete the whole library with confirmation.
Simple navigation
Move between My videos, Create video, and Settings from the bottom navigation bar. Camera movement, long-trip compression, and video quality are stored as your defaults for the next preview and export.
Designed for privacy
Your Timeline file is never uploaded. The Journey, titles, and generated videos are processed on your device. No Google sign-in, analytics, advertising, or location permission is used.
To draw the map, the app requests map tiles from CARTO. Those requests include map-area tile coordinates and normal network information, which may reveal places in your Timeline to CARTO. The app explains this before the first Timeline is loaded and lets you cancel.
