About Tinnitus Notched Tunes

English

This app allows you to fight tinnitus by listening to your favorite music.

Current medical research identified regular listening to tailor-made notched music as a novel and promising therapy for tinnitus patients.

In this enjoyable and low-cost approach, patients listen to their favorite music, from which a certain frequency band - centered around the tinnitus frequency - has been removed. Clinical studies show that listening to this so-called notched music for at least one hour per day during a period of six month can significantly reduce the perceived tinnitus loudness.

This app allows everybody suffering from tinnitus to create their own notched music. It takes an arbitrary piece of music as input, applies a user-defined notch filter to remove a small frequency band around the tinnitus frequency. You can choose between different sources of music: .mp3-files stored on your devices or music from your favorite web radio station.

The app also provides tools that help patients to determine their individual tinnitus pitch and to design tailor-made notch filters that best fit their needs. In addition, this app visualizes the energy spectrum of the notched music such that patients can easily check if applying the notch filter produced the desired result.

If you need to mask your tinnitus for a while or have other reasons to listen to relaxing sounds, you can try the all-new noise generator. It provides White, Pink and Brown Noise.

White Noise, Pink Noise and Brown Noise are known to have a relaxing impact on people. Thus, the noise generator can help you relax, concentrate or fall asleep.

The noise is generated in real-time which avoids unwanted repetition patterns.

In addition, the app provides a variety of other relaxing background noise patterns such as waves hitting the beach, a light thunderstorm in summer or people talking in a restaurant. The main idea of the noise generator is that you can mask your tinnitus with relaxing sounds such as White Noise in case it gets unbearable and you want to simply sleep, relax or concentrate.
