Pediatric Emergency Medicine Android App to facilitate offline TREKK.ca content

Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids (TREKK) is a national network working to improve children’s emergency care across Canada.We’re connecting emergency specialists, child health researchers, patients and families to speed up how the latest knowledge in children’s emergency care is put into practice in general emergency departments across Canada.

We developed our app at the request of rural and remote communities, where accessing online resources isn’t always an option due to lack of Internet connection and cellular data.

To break down this barrier, our app pulls content from our website and allows users to browse our resources offline. Once the documents are downloaded (using the Internet or cellular data), users can use the File tab to store PDFs and view them offline.

Our app takes us one step closer to achieving our goal: for every acutely ill or injured child receive the highest standard of emergency care no matter where they live in Canada.

What's new in the latest 6.0

As of version 6.0 The TREKK mobile app will now support the ability of the TREKK.ca content team to send important update notifications to the TREKK mobile app. This will assist in keeping users updated on new opportunities and content without having to rely on online connectivity to access the TREKK website. This is part of a progressive 'offline first' design effort on the part of the TREKK team to improve the provision of instant, offline TREKK content on the TREKK mobile app.
