The Viniplus Guide celebrates 10 years

Just this year of Expo 2015, the Lombardy Viniplus Guide celebrates 10 years!

And again this year, the number of wine producing companies involved in our project to increasingly promote Lombardy wine, has reached the double digit! We are ranked tenth as vinicultural region with an average value of production in the last five years totaling approximately 1.3 million hectoliters of wine.

Viticulture in Lombardy has, since many years, a well-established tradition in the constant pursuit of high quality, as the many DOCG, DOC and IGT wines prove.

And at the same time, increasingly able to present the wine with great elegance to the consumer, Italian and otherwise. Year after year, we are improving our Lombardy wine export, and this is the road we must absolutely follow.

Gratitude, as always, to all those who worked on the Viniplus project, and a special praise to the many wine companies, who constitute the true protagonists of this guide. Then to our working group: from the project managers to the many wine tasters, who took turns evaluating the wines. This year, there were over a thousand wine samples of different typologies, coming from every part of Lombardy.

I think I am not wrong to say that AIS Lombardia has hit the target like never before in its aim to promote the excellence of the Lombardy wine heritage. The growing interest of companies in participating in this project, in fact, is testimony that we have become an important reference point for the promotion of Lombardy wine in Italy and, starting this year, throughout the world. It is not a coincidence that the Viniplus Guide is translated into English.

This guide will therefore become an important ambassador for Expo 2015 in the service of the many foreign visitors who will arrive not just in Italy, but specifically in Lombardy and Milan. They will be able to bring to their own countries the description of the wines of 270 companies that represent the best of our beautiful region, the best of Lombardy viticulture.

Through the Viniplus Guide, we wish to be of assistance to the producers in the important work of promoting their commitment and their endeavors in the pursuit of quality. The latter, which aspects are manifestly apparent in the small space dedicated to the production philosophy of each company. Here it shows that the focus is more and more on quality, at the expense of quantity.

Lombardy viticulture wants to serve more and more as ambassador in the world of “Made in Italy” and of absolute quality.
