About VPDemo (Testing Only)
Feel the music physically in vibrations on your smart device.
The VibePlayer project allows you to feel the music/audio physically in vibrations on your smart device using the Sensations technology. A user can use the VibePlayer app to listen to a song, with the smart device vibrating to notes of a musical instrument within that song, for example.
The technology is fully developed and it works by allowing users to create and use custom vibration/haptic (relating to touch) data. This approach delivers accurate results, as opposed to using the currently available audio processing algorithms.
The project consists of three components. The creation app (VibeMaker) that allows users to create vibration data. The player app (VibePlayer) which allows users to use the vibration data to experience vibrated audio. The website which will allow the users to share the created vibration data with others.
The player demo is restricted to one track (three including the VibeMaker tracks) and is currently available for Android devices only (Jelly Bean 4.3+). You can create vibration data for one audio file / one video file of choice, using the VibeMaker app (also available on the store) and play it using the player.
Some Android devices offer average vibration which can be felt while holding the device or pressing it against your skin using an armband (for example). Other devices offer strong vibration which can be felt in your pocket. In both cases the vibration feedback is enjoyable.
The audio track within the player is created using the DJ Dubstep Music Maker Pad application. It is courtesy of the author, Elfiz (thanks).
Update: Video support has been added. Now, you can enjoy vibration data (created by the VibeMaker app) for videos. This is a new and highly experimental feature. A compatibility mode has been added to the app, that allows videos to sync properly on old devices. You can access it from Settings (tap the three dots icon, to the top right corner to find it).
By default, the compatibility mode is enabled. Two options (methods) are available, which are "Experimental 1" and "Experimental 2." If you have a fast device, you might not need the compatibility mode. If you have an average device, you might need to select and try one of the two methods available. On old devices, be sure to close all the apps that you do not need, before starting and trying out the video option.
On pre-Lollipop devices, you get an extra option which allows you to extend the compatibility mode to audio files. This is NOT needed/recommended, and is only available for testing purposes, only.
You can download the following video/vibration sample, if you want to try the video option right away, without having to create vibration data using the VibeMaker app:

Extract the .zip file from the link into the root of your internal storage and start the VibePlayer app then tap VibeMaker Video.
