The new book by Alexander Dvorkin may seem unusual to anyone who knows of this website solely for anti-sectarian, historical and ecclesiastical works. Here, in the stories about his trips to Mount Athos, in front of us - a subtle lyricist, capable of using the language to convey not only information, but also the mood. In addition, the lyrical tone of the book is complemented and humor (for example, in the stories of "Procession", "How we prevented people from coming to Orthodoxy").

The book is structured as a collection of short stories with a common theme - the Mount Athos monastic life. Seemed to have so much written about monasticism, which add to this anything is possible. Nevertheless, Dworkin managed to find a key, which I am sure many readers will touch hearts. His stories are simple in appearance, there is no detailed excursions into theology, neither the "stream of consciousness" that is so fashionable in secular literature. No, Dworkin says about the simple things - a monastic way of life, about the people they encounter in their travels, about the stories that he told.
