Al Fatiha | الفاتحة

Surah alfatihah is a surah in the Qur'an. This surah is called al-Fatihah (Opening) because it is used as the opening and beginning of the Quran. This Surah is also called Ummul Quran (ام القــرآن - Mother of the Quran) or Ummul Kitaab (ام الكتاب - Mother of the Book) because it is the mother or parent of all the contents of the Quran and is the essence of the content of the Quran itself. This surah is also called As-Sab'ul Matsaani which means seven repeated because this verse is repeated for each prayer.
