Freedom to communicate on your own terms

DeJoy is designed for individuals, families, and communities who want fast, secure, and private communication. Whether you’re connecting with friends, relatives, hobby groups, or clubs, DeJoy makes staying in touch simple and reliable with instant messaging and video calls.

Stay connected with:

• Real time messaging — Send messages, photos, voice notes, videos, shared locations, and more.

• Public rooms — Join or create open community discussions.

• Private rooms — Communicate securely within closed groups.

• Rich messaging tools — Emoji reactions, threaded replies, polls, pinned messages, and more.

• Real-time location sharing — Meeting someone who can’t find you? Share your live location with one tap. You control the sharing duration; once it expires, it can no longer be viewed, ensuring your privacy.

Privacy-first

DeJoy is built from the ground up with privacy in mind. We do not mine your data or monitor your communications. Your conversations belong to you.

Own your conversations

Choose where your data is hosted: use any public server (e.g., mt.social) or run your own personal server on your own domain. This flexibility is a key feature that sets DeJoy apart from traditional messaging apps. However you choose to host, your data remains yours—you’re in control.

Real-time communication, everywhere

DeJoy works seamlessly across all your devices with fully synchronized message history, keeping you connected wherever you are.

Required Permissions

Permission: FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC

Purpose:

Our app is a real-time messaging platform based on the Matrix protocol. This permission ensures reliable message synchronization between the user’s device and our servers.

Use Cases:

Real-time Message Sync - Continuously syncs new messages, read receipts, and typing indicators. Ensures messages are delivered promptly even when the app is minimized.

Initial Sync After Login - Fetches complete conversation history and room memberships. May take several minutes for accounts with extensive chat history.

Offline Message Queue - Messages sent while offline are queued and reliably delivered once connectivity is restored.

User Experience:

Shows “Initial Sync…” notification during sync, disappears when complete. The sync stops automatically once complete and never runs longer than necessary.

Permission: FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION

Purpose:

Enables Live Location Sharing feature, allowing users to share real-time location with conversation participants.

Use Cases:

Users can share their live location for a chosen duration (15 min / 1 hour / 8 hours).

Location updates continuously while sharing is active.

User Experience:

Requires user to explicitly start sharing and select duration.

Shows notification while sharing; users can stop anytime.
