Flash Alerts 2: Call, SMS, LED

Flash Alerts 2 makes your phone's camera flash (LED flashlight) blink for incoming calls, SMS text messages, and app notifications - so you never miss an alert in a silent meeting, a loud room, with earbuds in, or if you're deaf or hard of hearing. First released in 2013, Flash Alerts 2 is one of the original flash notification apps for Android.

FIRST-TIME SETUP

1. Grant Notification Access - required to detect app notifications. Turn on "Flash Alerts 2" in the settings screen the app shows you.

2. Select apps in the Application Filter - you must pick which apps (texts, messaging apps, etc.) should trigger a flash. If no app is selected, app notifications won't flash at all.

3. Exclude from battery optimization - so flashing keeps working reliably when the screen is off.

FAQ

Q. Does it work when the screen is off or the phone is locked?

A. Yes. Once Flash Alerts 2 is excluded from battery optimization, the flash blinks even with the screen off. You can also limit flashing to when the device is locked.

Q. My text messages don't flash. Why?

A. Open the Application Filter and select your messaging app. Only the apps you select trigger an SMS or app notification flash.

Q. Does it need access to my SMS, contacts, or call log?

A. No. Flash Alerts 2 uses Notification Access to detect app notifications and the phone state to detect incoming calls. It does not request SMS, contacts, or call log permissions.

Q. Can I stop the flash at night?

A. Yes. Schedule Do Not Disturb hours, or turn flash alerts off with the home screen widget.

Most issues come down to one of the three setup steps above - double-check that you've selected apps in the Application Filter.
