About PDF Tools: Web to PDF & Merge
Save any web page as a clean PDF, then merge, split and edit it. All offline.
We built this because we kept losing things we read online. An article that ends up behind a paywall a month later. Documentation that gets rewritten. Something long you wanted to read on a flight with no signal. You can print to PDF from a mobile browser, but you get the cookie banner, the newsletter popup and three ad slots baked into the file.
So this app has its own browser. Open a page in it, tap save, and you get a PDF of the whole scrolling page — not a screenshot of one screen. If the page is cluttered, switch on Reader Mode first and it strips the navigation, sidebars and ads before saving. There is also an optional ad blocker in Settings, off by default.
Once the PDFs are on your phone, the rest of the app is the occasional stuff you never want to install a separate app for:
Merge PDF — combine several files into one. Drag them into the order you want first.
Split PDF — break a large file into smaller ones, by page range or every N pages.
Remove pages — delete the pages you don't need and keep the rest.
Image to PDF — turn photos or screenshots into a PDF. Fit-to-image, A4 or Letter, three quality levels.
Extract text — pull the selectable text out of a PDF, page range and all, then copy it or save a .txt file.
Extract images — pull the pictures back out of a PDF.
Add watermarks — stamp an image on every page. Nine positions, size and opacity sliders, live preview before you commit.
PDF viewer — pinch to zoom, read vertically or page across, jump to any page, keep the screen on.
All of it runs on your phone. No account, no sign-up, nothing uploaded to a server. The only part that needs a connection is the browser, for obvious reasons.
Things it does not do, so you find out now rather than after installing:
- No OCR. If a PDF is a scan, Extract Text tells you there is no selectable text instead of pretending it found some.
- Password-protected PDFs aren't supported yet.
- You can't edit text inside an existing PDF.
- No printing from inside the app.
The app is free and shows ads. Share it with someone and you get a stretch with no ads at all — that is the whole monetisation story, there is no subscription and nothing is paywalled.
Made by Optimum Tech. We build small, focused tools that do their job well and stay out of your way.
