Ratee

Ratee is a community app for real product reviews. Scan a barcode while you are in the shop and you'll see the product's rating, the full star breakdown, and the reviews other people found useful. Nothing here is paid for or planted by a brand.

Most ratings online are hard to trust. Some are bought, some are left by people who never used the product, and the rest are spread across a dozen sites and social feeds. Ratee keeps them in one place and keeps them real, so you can decide before you spend money.

How it works:

Scan a product's barcode with your camera to open its page in a couple of seconds. Give it a star rating and say what you actually thought. That's it.

What people review:

Ratee started with cosmetics and that's still where it's strongest: skin care, make up, hair care, fragrances, body care, sun care, nail care, men's grooming and beauty tools. What suits one person's skin rarely suits everyone, and the label never tells you that. You'll also find supplements, groceries and household products, each split into subcategories so you can compare like with like.

What you can do:

- Scan any product barcode to pull up its page and its rating.

- Read reviews and see a clear score with the full star breakdown.

- Write your own review, rate the product and add photos.

- Comment on reviews and reply to other people.

- Vote on product photos so the clearest ones show first.

- Add a product or a brand that isn't listed yet.

- Search by name or browse categories when you don't have the item to hand.

- Earn points for what you contribute and climb the leaderboard and ranks.

- Turn notifications on or off, and keep your profile private if you'd rather.

You can sign in with email or with Google, and the app works in English, French and Arabic.

Ratee is free. There's no subscription and nothing to pay for. It's in open testing on Android right now, so a few things are still rough, and we read every bit of feedback that comes in.
