Tank Combat Commander 3D

So this is it. You have been testing the new army prototype tank for the last week or so, and your current mission has gone horribly wrong. You're discovered in enemy territory and Headquarters briefed you on the last Intel. F16 fighter jets armed with Air to Ground missiles and on board machine guns are heading your way.

You figure you have only a few minutes before the first fighters arrive, and your radar is showing the bandits already. Friendly fighters are on their way too to intercept and clear you if at all possible. But deep inside you know that they are largely outnumbered and you are on your own. In a Tank. Against F16s.

Luckily your prototype is heavily armed. Your heavy machine gun has armor penetrating capabilities and will not run out of ammo for the upcoming shoot out. Unheard of in a Tank: you have an on-board Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) launcher. This will be a very unwelcome surprise for the enemy pilots and you can already imagine their faces when their radar shows your missiles .. too late. Speaking of radar: your tank deploys onboard radar and your enemies will light up as a christmas tree on your lcd monitor. Range is about 150 Kilometers and hostile fighters will show as red triangles. Friendly fighters will be green, you hope you can distinguish them when emptying your weapons on your enemies. Your last weapon is your good old large-calibre cannon in a rotating gun turret... with a twist. The shell are so powerful that anything or anyone in 200 to 300 meters range of the explosion will not live to tell.

So brace yourself and get ready for what will probably be your very last encounter. Keep an eye on your radar and on the air and shoot the bloody bandits to become a real Tank Hero. Your prototype tank can never get in their hands, so surrender is not an option. Good luck commander!

Controls

You can use on-screen joysticks both for movement and aiming. Aiming can also be controlled by Tilt/Accellerometer controls. In the option screen (available in-game and in the main menu) you can set what controls to use and the sensitivity. The green tank will change to red indicating the armor condition. When your armor is completely destroyed, a next blow will destroy your fancy tank prototype.. Beware!

The Tank

You control the next generation world of class Tank. Its features are the best of worlds from the all-famous Leopard, Tiger and Challenger tanks and it is a direct successor of the Abrams Combat tanks currently in use. A tank is an enclosed armored military vehicle; it has a cannon and moves on caterpillar treads. Originally invented during WW1 to break through trench lines, the tank didn’t reach its full maturity – or potential – until WW2, when it became a significant factor in warfare, both tactically and operationally. The tank’s contribution to operational success was so considerable that an entirely new tactical and technological system of anti-tank warfare was developed, using bazookas, minefields and even anti-tank dogs (with varying degrees of success). But today the concept of the tank is one hundred years old, and since its heyday 70 years ago there have been countless debates over whether tanks still have a place in modern warfare. Regardless, the story of the tank since WW2 has not been of obsolescence but of evolution.

Tanks were no longer produced in such vast quantities after the end of WW2, but they continued to be developed and hoarded by Cold War countries, largely as a threat of force initiative – much like atomic weapons. There is no doubt that the tank remains a fearsome deterrent even to this day; news reports that tanks have been seen moving into any skirmish area around the world immediately raises alarms. They’re big, they’re scary, and when we see a tank we know the battle is getting to be a Fury, so expect them to be around for quite a while yet.
