Text Viewer: TXT, LOG & RTF

Read text files on your phone, even the ones other apps give up on: logs of hundreds of megabytes, files whose characters come out broken, and RTF documents with their formatting. No account needed.

■ Large TXT and LOG files

- Opens files up to 512 MB (UTF-16 files up to 256 MB, and up to 5 million lines). Lines appear with line numbers, and the scroll bar on the right takes you anywhere in the file in one drag.

- Go to any line by number.

- Turn off line wrapping to scroll sideways through long log lines.

- Change the text size, turn line numbers on or off, or use a fixed-width font.

- When you open the same file again, it picks up at the line you were reading.

■ Search the whole file

- Find a word in the whole file and see how many times it appears (up to 100,000 matches).

- Step to the next or previous match. Every match on the screen is highlighted.

- Turn on Match case when upper and lower case matter.

■ Broken characters

- The encoding is detected automatically: UTF-8, UTF-16, EUC-KR and Western files.

- If characters still look wrong, choose another encoding yourself: Shift_JIS, GBK, Big5 and more.

- Save what you see as a UTF-8 copy, the encoding most computers expect.

■ RTF documents

- Bold, italic, underline, colors, alignment, tables, PNG and JPEG pictures and footnotes are shown.

- Korean, Japanese and Chinese RTF files saved on Windows are read with the right code page.

- Links ask before they open in your browser.

- Save as PDF, or save the text only as a .txt file.

■ Before you install

- This app only reads files. It never changes the original.

- Files larger than 512 MB show the first 512 MB, and the screen says so.

- RTF files larger than 64 MB cannot be opened. In RTF, headers and footers are not shown, pages run on as one continuous text, and some picture types are not shown.

- .doc and .docx documents and PDF files are not supported.

- A text PDF holds up to 1,000 pages.

- Saving a PDF or a UTF-8 copy may show one ad first.

- Requires Android 8.0 or later.

■ Files and privacy

Only the file you pick is read, and the app does not ask for access to all of your storage.

Files are shown on this device only. Nothing in them is uploaded, and pictures or links inside a document never load anything from the internet.

The internet connection and advertising ID are used only to show ads and send usage statistics, and Google services process device information for this. See the privacy policy for details.
