Islamic Hijri Urdu Calendar | Calendar consisting of 12 months in a year

Islamic or Hijri calendar is a calendar consisting of 12 months in a year. It consists of 354 or 355 days. It is often used to determine the proper days of Islamic rituals. The current Islamic year in Hijri calendar is AH. There are twelve Islamic months; the names of Islamic months are Muhararam, Safar, Rabi al-awwal, Rabi at-thani, jumādá al-ūlá, Jumādá al-ākhirah, Rajab, Sha‘bān, Ramaḍān, Shawwāl, Dhū al-Qa‘dah, Dhū al-Ḥijjah. New Islamic year starts from the month of Muharram. Four months are considered sacred among the twelve months which are Muharram, Dhū al-Qa‘dah, Rajab and Dhu al-Ḥijjah. The length of an Islamic month depends upon the lunar cycle.

Depending upon the visibility of moon each month can have 29 to 30 days. Islamic days of week start at sunset like those in the Hebrew and Bahá'í calendars. Friday in most of the Islamic countries is considered the day of rest. Muslims gather on this day and offer their Jummah Prayer. In Muslim countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia Friday and Saturday are considered as official weekends. A few countries including Pakistan have chosen Saturday and Sunday as their official weekends keeping Friday as a working day. The tabular Islamic calendar is also an Islamic calendar which is not based upon astronomical calculation rather it is a rule-based variation Islamic calendar.
