VIKASA - CDO

VIKASA is an non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1997 to address the socio-economic needs of rural India, mainly of the underprivileged sections. It is registered under the Karnataka Societies’ Registration Act. 1960 and with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs under the Foreign Exchange Regulations Act (FERA).

Apart from facilitating, promoting self-help groups (SHG) and intermediating on their behalf, Vikasa has been promoting the rights of women and children in 12 districts of Karnataka. The NABARD-inspired SHGs has led Vikasa to promote thousands of SHGs and link them with the erstwhile State Bank of Mysore (now SBI) in 2007 resulting in micro-lending to the tune of about Rs. 1,000 core over the years.
