OBERBERG COGITO is an app to increase mental well-being.

OBERBERG COGITO is a free self-help app. It is based on the COGITO app, which was developed by employees of the University Hospital Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE). OBERBERG COGITO is available to anyone who wants to improve their mental well-being with easy-to-understand daily exercises.

How does OBERBERG COGITO work? Taking care of your own well-being is comparable to brushing your teeth every day: It doesn't take much time and can still have a very positive effect on your well-being if you do it regularly and thoroughly carry out. The app will try to help you with this. It offers numerous self-help exercises for different problem areas, which you can make part of your daily routine. In this way, the exercises can make a lasting contribution to your personal mental well-being. You can best benefit from the app if you use it actively and daily and make OBERBERG COGITO your personal companion! It can happen that the exercises are repeated occasionally. That's on purpose. Because it is only through regular repetition that effective new solution strategies can be integrated into one's own life.

For which problem areas are exercises available? Depending on which problem area you want to achieve positive effects for, you can select different program packages. The app includes, among other things, program packages on the areas of joie de vivre & new perspectives, activity & energy, communication & relationships as well as mindfulness & inner peace. All exercises are based on scientific knowledge.

How is OBERBERG COGITO used? Every day you will receive new exercises to do something for your mental well-being. The exercises can easily be integrated into everyday life. Up to two push notifications will remind you of the exercises every day (optional function). You also have the opportunity to add your own exercises or guiding principles or to modify existing exercises. This allows you to adapt the app and the exercises it contains to your own needs. However, the app does not automatically adapt to user behavior (there is no learning algorithm), since the app and its use are completely anonymous and no data from the exercises is stored.

Important note: The self-help app is not an alternative to psychotherapeutic treatment and therefore cannot replace qualified psychotherapy. The app sees itself as a self-help approach. The use of the app does not represent appropriate treatment for mental illnesses, acute life crises and suicidal tendencies.
