About Takedowns from the Knees
An informative look at an often overlooked Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training area
When sparring at their academy, students usually begin their matches on their knees. Unfortunately, students aren't taught much more than pull their training partner into their guard and see what happens.
I designed this instructional app with frustrated students in mind - those who had no idea what to do once sparring began. In this app, I address six areas of takedowns from the knees:
1. The pull-back series from the tie-up position.
2. The drive-forward series from the tie-up position.
3. The arm drag series from a two-on-one grip.
4. The head pull-down series from a head-to-head position.
5. Counters to some of the basic takedowns.
6. Other ideas for takedowns.
With the combination of several instructional videos and two highly informative articles, you will be on your way to consistently placing your training partners on their back as well as establishing control much sooner in the match!
