Scogo App provides on-demand field services across India having a coverage of 20K+ pin codes. Our customer book field services through the mobile app and based on our routing algorithm the service ticket gets routed to the hyper-local service engineer. Upon accepting the ticket by the service engineers, customers can track their location route to the desired destination address, where the service is required. Service engineer uses native real-time chatting system of Scogo App to ensure regular updates and submit pictures and videos that are used to gauge quality of service. Once ticket is completed by, service engineer gets paid via Scogo App payment wallet.
Why we need location ?
Customers upon booking the service, expect to know when the engineer will reach to the destination address and to track their progress on integrated Google Maps. The live location tracking feature is pivotal to our customer experience. Location needs to be be tracked in the background, because when service engineer accepts the ticket they agree to reach to destination under a limited time window. A service engineer uses their personal mode of transport especially 2-wheeler and its not practical for them to keep Scogo App active all the time. Location information is needed just for the time until engineer reaches to the destination site. Once reached to the site they can choose to stop sharing their location.
1) While our service engineer is traveling to the destination address, we need Live location feed from them and report their progress to the customer who booked/hired this engineer for the job.
2) This would also be useful when we enable navigation in the next release, where service engineers can get step by step route navigation, to reach the destination address for delivering services.
3) Location data allows us to distribute service ticket to the right service engineer who is in the near-by (hyper-local) area. This provides an opportunity to the service engineer to earn more by spending more time doing the service job and less time travelling. With the location feature we are bringing the job closer to the service engineers, where ever they are.
