Calories are a measure of energy in food.

Mifflin - St. Jeor as recommended by ADA (American

Dietetic Association)

as the most appropriate formula. Harris-Benedict formula

sometimes giving results that are not right for the case

What is BMR?

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body needs to perform the function of the heart, brain, kidneys, and other organs, when you are not moving at all.

However, BMR alone is not enough to know your daily calorie needs because BMR does not consider physical activity factors. Your body also needs energy (calories) to perform various daily physical activities, such as walking, working, and exercising.
